Questions
Are these stencils free?
Yes. Every design is free to print for personal use, parties, and classrooms. No sign-up needed.
How is a painting stencil different from a carving stencil?
Carving patterns are full of thin bridges and tiny cut-outs so the pumpkin holds together. Painting stencils use big closed shapes and bold outlines, so you can fill each area with a brush. Every design here is drawn for paint.
What size should I print?
Pick your pumpkin size on the design page. A small pumpkin (about 6 in tall) takes a 4 in design, a medium one (about 9 in) takes 6 in, and a large one (about 12 in) takes 8 in. You can also type your own width.
How do I get the design onto the pumpkin?
Rub pencil over the back of the printout, tape it to the pumpkin, and trace the lines with a pen. The pencil leaves a faint copy on the skin. Graphite transfer paper works too.
What paint works best?
Acrylic craft paint covers well and dries in minutes. Wipe the pumpkin clean and dry first. A coat of clear spray sealer helps the paint last longer outdoors.
Can kids do these?
Designs marked Easy have a few large shapes and work for kids around 5 and up with a little help tracing. Medium and Hard designs have more pieces and suit older kids and adults.
